All round Paras dismantle UAE

Led by a strong performance from skipper Paras khadka with the bat, Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane with the ball, who rolled the United Arab Emirates for 114, Nepal cruised to a four wicket victory over UAE, in the ICC WCL Division-2 tournament.

Scorecard

Sompal kami and Sandeep Lamichhane were the solitary who caused UAE’s collapse, between them collecting 7 wickets out of the 10 wickets. Paras Khadka then steered Nepal past their target with little trouble.

The wet outfield forced the match to be reduced to 34 over’s a side where Nepal won the toss and elected to field first in damp condition. The tone was set by medium pacer, Sompal Kami, who took early wicket of Ashfaq Ahmed for a first ball duck and Ghulam Shabber who was caught by Vesawkar. UAE was 3 down for 25 runs, when opener Rohan Mustafa was caught behind by Dilip Nath off Karan KC’s ball.

Shaiman Anwar tried to steer the innings despite wickets kept tumbling at the other end. His 30 runs innings integrated two fours. He was dismissed by tricky Lamichanne in the 22nd over. Lamichanne was on blaze as usual taking two wickets in his first three deliveries of the match, as he claimed Rameez Shahzad and Muhamma Usman. The tail Enders was then cleared by skipper Paras Khadka and Sompal kami. Paras finished with 2 for 20 while Sompal picked 4 for 30, outshining Sandeep Lamichhane who picked 3 wickets.

Although chasing a small target of 115 runs, it was always going to be an eventful chase considering the batting failure of Nepal in recent matches. Early on Dilip Nath failed to Mohammad Naveed at the score of 9 runs. Shortly at 10 runs, Gyanendra Malla also departed making 5 runs. Things got even worse for Nepal when Dipendra Singh Airee was bowled by Naveed at a score of 20 runs in 6.5 over’s.

Man of the match Paras Khadka

However, a much determined skipper struck 2 fours and 5 sixes to ensure the second win of the campaign making 51 runs off just 48 balls. After the departure of the skipper, Aarif sheikh and Rohit Paudel cautiously guided the Nepali team towards victory.

Mohammad Naveed and Amir Hayat snapped two wickets each for UAE in losing cause. Skipper Paras Khadka was decided the man of the match for his 2 wickets and match winning half century. Nepal will now take on Kenya tomorrow, where a win will put Nepal in a sturdy position to qualify for the ICC World Cup qualifiers.
