Mehboob Alam brought some vintage days back as Biratnagar defeated Janakpur by 8 wickets keeping their semis hope alive if they can beat Birgunj. Biratnagar have better run rate than Birgunj. Whilst TAC already qualified for semis today beating Pokhara by 3 wickets.

Mehboob Alam scored unbeaten 68 runs from 49 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Two of the 4 sixes came at end of the Biratnagar chase as Alam smashed them to finish off the match for Region No. 1. The veteran was supported by Pushpa Thapa’s brisk 42 runs which included 6 fours and one six who himself looked in great form before dropping sheet anchor to Mehboob Alam’s show at the other end.

Earlier, Biratnagar won the toss and elected to bowl first. Janakpur struggled since start as they lost 3 wickets for just 28 runs on the board. Opener Rahul Pratap Singh & no.3 Himanshu Dutta both were dismissed for duck. Biratnagar opening bowlers Manjeet Shrestha & Mehboob Alam picked up 2 wickets each. Later, Md. Hazrat Ali picked up 3 wickets adding insult to Janakpur’s injury. Janakapur was bundle out for 161 in 42.3 overs. Kundan Singh’s 32 was only notable contribution for Janakpur.

Janakpur and Pokhara are out of the tournament with 4 and 3 defeats respectively. Mehboob Alam was adjudged man of the match for his half century and 2 wickets.
