Dhangadhi Premier League – DPL 2 Announces Ultimate Cash Prize

The second edition of Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL) has been announced on Sunday via a press conference. The tournament which starts on January 19, 2018 will be sponsored by Ruslan Cricket.

An agreement was signed between Ruslan Cricket of Jawalakhel Group of Industries’ Vijaya Distillery and organizing committee Dhangadhi Cricket Academy, which confirmed Ruslan as the title sponsor of DPL-2.

As stated in the agreement, cash amount of Rs. 35 lakh and another Rs. 35 lakh in the form of  tournament expenditures and other accessories will be sponsored by Ruslan Cricket. Subash Shahi signed the agreement paper as the Director of Dhangadhi Cricket Academy while the Director of Jawalakhel Group of Industries Mr. Harsha Shamsher JBR signed the agreement paper on behalf of Ruslan Cricket.

The title sponser of the last edition of DPL was Sagarmatha Cement.

Ultimate Cash Prize: Rs. 35 lakh up for grabs

The winner will be awarded Rs. 25 lakh whereas the 1st Runners up will be awarded Rs. 10 lakh. Similarly, the 2nd runners up and 3rd runners up will be rewarded Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh respectively. DPL 2 will be the tournament with 2nd highest cash prize for the winning team, behind Everest Premier League which has announced Rs. 21 lakh as the cash prize for the winning team.

The winning team of the 1st edition of DPL, Chauraha Dhangadi led by Paras Khadka was rewarded Rs. 15 lakh cash prize.

Man of the Match of each match will be rewarded with  Rs. 10,000 while Man of the Series will be presented with a 180 cc motorbike. The best batsman and the best bowler will also be presented with prizes at the end of the tournament. The organizing committee has decided to spend Rs. 50 lakh in prizes and rewards.

The total expenditure of the tournament is expected to be Rs. 3 crores.

Eight City-Based Franchises

The last edition of DPL comprised of 6 teams which has now been expanded to 8 teams. Two new teams will be announced soon.
Chauraha Dhangadi, CYC Atariya, Rupandehi Challengers, Kanchanpur Iconics, Kathmandu Goldens and Biratnagar Kings were the 6 teams that participated in DPL-1 .

Honoring Former Cricketer

A former national or international cricketer will be awarded with ‘Dhangadi Cricket Samman’ while a person with invaluable contribution to Nepali cricket will be awarded with ‘Arjun Khadka Smriti.’ Both the prizes are worth Rs. 1 lakh each.

DPL-2 Ticket Rate

The tickets for the league matches will be sold for Rs. 50 each while the playoffs will cost Rs. 70. Similarly the final’s ticket will be cost Rs. 100. 20% of the total funds collected from tickets will be used in construction of Fapla International Cricket Stadium (Dream Fapla). Similarly, 40% of the funds will be distributed among the participating teams.

Auction Based Tournament

Similar to the last edition, the 2nd edition of DPL will be based on player auction. The players need to register their name in Dhangadi Cricket Academy to be eligible to participate in the tournament. The registered names will come down under the hammer in an auction. The date for registration is yet to be announced.
