DPL : Attariya and Mahendranagar win in day-2

Partly contributions from the batsman and bowlers set up a 33 runs win for Mahendranagar United against Biratnagar Kings in the second match of the day in DPL.

Batting first, Mahendranagar’s batting chart was led by skipper Binod Bhandari and Punit Mehra. Captain Bhandari came to open the innings with the youngster Aasif Sheikh and managed to add 50 runs before Aasif was run out for 9. The very next ball Bhandari fell for 35 runs off 29 balls that included 5 fours and a six. The scoreboard kept ticking with contribution from middle order batsman Punit Bista (24 off 14), Hari Shah (19 off 18), Aarif Sheikh (20 off 15) and Punit Mehra (38 off 18). Mehra was explosive towards the end as he smashed 3 sixes and two fours on his way to 38 runs.

 

Manjeet Shrestha was the best bowlers for the Kings with the figure of 2 for 30. Skipper Paras Khadka and S Kamat also took a wicket each on their way to restricting Mahanedranagar for 168 runs.

The bowlers also shared wickets among them to secure a win for Bhandari’s side. Three bowlers shared two wickets each as they bowled out Biratnagar Kings for 135 runs. With 3 wickets Avinash Karn led the bowling card. Punit Mehra, Bhuwan Karki and Robin Chhetri snatched two wickets in their names.

Prithu Baskota led the chase adding 35 runs with 2 fours and six. Explosively Babar Hayat made 32 runs from only 10 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes but it was not enough to prevent a loss for the Kings.

Punit Mehra was adjudged the player of the match for his 38 runs with the bat and 2 wickets with the ball.

The first match of the day was played between CYC Attariya and Rupandehi Challengers where Attariya bagged a comfortable victory by 9 wickets.

Rupandehi Challengers were dismissed for a mere 61 runs as they were invited to bat first. In dismissing the challengers for cheap, Kamal Singh Airee took 4 wickets. Man of the match Airee gave away 15 runs in picking four wickets in his allotted four over’s. None of the batsman could manage significant score; Sufyan Mahmood topping the chart with 20 runs. The challengers were bowled out for 61 run in 15.2 over’s.

The chase was completed with only one casualty in the form of Subash Khakurel who before getting dismissed to JItendra Mukhiya added 19 runs in 13 balls. The chase was seen off by Gaurav Chitkar, who smashed 30 runs and Prem Tamang, who made 19 runs.

Kamal Singh Airee was declared the player of the match for his brilliant spell with the ball.
