DPL Day-5 : 3 wins in 3 matches for Kathmandu, 1st win for Biratnagar

Biratnagar Kings and Kathmandu Goldens were victorious in the 5th day of Dhangadi Premier League Season 2.

Rupandehi continued their poor form in the tournament as they were handed third defeat of the tournament. Rupandehi were heavily thrashed once again in the tournament through  Biratnagar kings by 42 runs.

Rupandehi won the toss and invited Biratnagar to bat first. In posting 181 runs, Hong Kong batsman Babar Hayat top scored for the Kings. At a strike rate of 165.71 he smashed 58 runs that constituted 4 fours and 4 sixes as well. Before his blitzkrieg, openers Dilip Nath (43) and Anil Shah (36) collected runs at quick pace. Towards the end skipper Paras Khadka also supplemented a quick fire 22 from 12 balls.

7 bowlers were used by Rupandehi but all of them were smashed for runs. Sufyan Mehmood was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets but was costly yielding 39 runs in 4 over.

The chase was not pretty either for Rupandehi. They lost first wicket at 10 runs in the form of Sagar Pun (5) as he was caught by Babar Hayat in the ball of Ram Naresh Giri. At one end, Pradeep Airee kept fighting but at the other end there was no support. Hopes were shattered for Rupandehi when Pradeep was clean bowled by Subham Kamat in the 13th over. He played a fine innings of 54 runs with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Rupandehi could only manage 139 runs losing 7 wickets in their 20 over. Subham Kamat was the star with the ball picking 3 wickets and giving away only 18 runs while Ram Naresh Giri also took 2 wickets. Babar Hayat was declared the player of the match for his exciting innings.

The second match of day was played between CYC Attariya and Kathmandu Goldens in which Goldens came first.

Batting first Goldens posted 139 runs with 9 casualties. Their innings was topped by skipper Gyanendra Malla who made 57 runs from 43 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. He and Naresh Budayer (27) added 37 runs for the fourth wicket in salvaging the innings from a bad position. Rashid Khan also made 16 runs facing only 9 balls.

For Attariya, Shuvankar Urao picked 3 wickets while Krishna Karki and Vipin Chandra grabbed two wickets each.

The start to the chase was not good for Attariya as they lost both openers, Kiran Bhurtel and Prem Tamang for cheap. Gaurav Chitkara handled the innings then after, together with Vipin Chandra (26). In his 36 runs innings, Chitkara smashed 4 huge sixes and a four.

Pradeep Airee

The bowlers kept putting pressure to the batsman and they were successful in defending the low score. Subodh Bhati, the man of the match was outstanding with the figures of 4-1-10-3. Rashaid Khan and Sunny Patel were equally good with 2 wickets each to their name. Attariya could only manage 126 runs in 20 over as they lost the match by mere 11 runs.
