Nepal register first win; defeat China after 7 years

Nepal registered their first win in the ICC World Cup Qualifying Series Asia Region defeating China by 20 runs in its third league match. This is Nepal’s first win against China after over 7 years.

Winning the toss and batting first Nepal posted 95 runs in 20 overs riding on 42 ball 38 runs from Nary  Narys inning included 2 fours and 2 sixes. This was Nepals highest total in the tournament so far.

Nepal was 32/3 after Nepals top scorer in last two matches, Nirmala Shahi departed for 14 runs.

Openers Kajol Shrestha and Sita Rana Magar had been dismissed early  for 6 and 2 runs respectively. Nary Thapa and Jyoti Pandey lifted Nepals innings adding 35 runs for the 5th wicket. Jyoti made 10 runs.

Li Yingying bagged 5 wickets for China.

In reply Nepal restricted China for 73/8 in 20 overs. Sita Rana Magar bagged 3 wickets for Nepal, Sabnam Rai picked 2 while Indu Verma and Sita Magar got one scalp each.

Wu Juan top scored for China with 11 not out. She added 18 runs in 16 balls for 9th wicket with Yingying who remained not for 10 runs. Yingying was declared the man of the match.  Nepal is now third in the points table with one win from 3 matches. Thailand in on top of the table with 3 wins from 3 matches,  Hong Kong is second with 2 wins, while China is at the bottom of the table with 0 wins.
