Abinash Bohara’s Story: From dreaming of being an army man to becoming a National cricketer

One may think that cricketers in their childhood usually dreamed of being a cricketer. However, that’s not the case for all the players. Abinash Bohara who was selected for Nepal’s tour of United Arab Emirates for three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals has a similar story.

His dream was to be an army. But while studying in the eight standards, he got a chance to play in district level games. He represented Nepalgunj and also took 9 wickets in two games.

Abinash says, “I had dreamed to carry a gun with like an army. Now, I carry a ball and serve the country by playing cricket.”

He added that it was a big deal for him to make it to the Nepali national team in a short span of time.

‘I have been very pleased that the Nepal National Team believed in me. My initial reaction on being selected was that of being surprised. However, I did have a gut feeling that I would get selected as I had performed well in EPL and also the closed camp.

‘I am very pleased that I have got an opportunity to play for the national team and I will not let this opportunity go to waste.’

After being blooded in domestic cricket, another dream emerged in his mind. The dream was that he could make himself better in cricket. His successful cricketing journey started from 2071BS and had its fair share of ups and downs;  not making to the U19 national cricket team to the brilliant performances in domestic leagues.

Abinash, 21, is new hope for Nepalese national cricket team. With the tour of UAE just around the corner, he is dreaming is to bring his best performance in the national colours. He calls getting called to the national side for the first time both an opportunity and a challenge.

‘My only dream is to make the name of my country held high in the world.’ Abinash’s biggest dream is to win the world cup for Nepal. He adds ‘The biggest goal of my career is to win Nepal a World Cup.’

Abinash started playing cricket 5 years ago. In his cricketing journey, he followed Paras Khadka closely. He adds that Sharad Vesawkar, Basant Regmi, former player Shakti Gauchan and Paras Khadka played a big role in the course of his career.
