PSL 2021 : Sandeep Lamichhane joins Lahore Qalandars as a replacement of Rashid Khan

Nepal’s 20-year-old spin prodigy Sandeep Lamichhane departs towards Karachi today at 11:00 PM to participate in the ongoing 6th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). He has been roped in by Lahore Qalanders, his former franchise team, as a replacement of Afghani star leg-spinner Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan, 22-year-old, returned back home for national duty as Afghanistan is scheduled to play two-match test series against Zimbawe, starting on March 2 followed by three-match T20I series. Before returning back home, Rashid played opening two matches for Qalanders and impressed everyone by his all-round performances.

Sandeep Lamichhane replaced Rashid Khan

Earlier, Sandeep was unsold in the PSL draft held on November 2.

Sandeep had already represented Lahore Qalanders in the 2018 edition of PSL. The googly boy did excellent performance in his debut season notching 11 wickets in just 7 matches. Since then Sandy remained unsold in the PSL draft.

PSL 2021 which began from February 20 will be played across two cities, Karachi and Lahore. The final will be played on March 22.

Recently, Lamichhane went unsold in the mini auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) at his base price of INR 40 lakhs. Back home, lots of questions evolved regarding the future of Sandeep in the franchise cricket. Now the globe -trotter Sandeep has got an ample opportunity to prove his worth once again.

He also recently represented the Hobart Hurricanes in BBL 2020/21.

Currently, Lahore Qalanders is placed at the third position of points table. Qalanders started their tourney in good fashion adding 4 points from opening 3 matches.

Qalanders will take on Karachi Kings on Sunday.
