Sandeep Lamichhane to represent Jamaica Tallawahs in 6IXTY

Jamaica Tallawahs have roped in Nepal’s star leggie and Skipper Sandeep Lamichhane for inaugural 6ixty, the new T10 format. The sixty-ball tournament is set to take place from August 24 to 28 in St Kitts, ahead of CPL. Lamichhane will then participate in CPL after missing out on last year’s tournament due to national duty.

Lamichhane will have the company of Pakistan’s duo Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, and Australia’s Chris Green in Jamaica Tallawahs. Tallawahs will be led by Rovman Powell.

Here are some of the rules for the new T10 tournament.

Unlike in the T10 league (which takes place in UAE), the team has only six wickets instead of 10 wickets.

There will be two powerplays. Batting teams can “unlock” a floating third powerplay over by hitting two sixes in the first 12 balls (2 overs). The third powerplay can be taken at any time between 3-9 overs.

30 balls will be bowled from one end and the last 30 balls will be bowled from another end.

The 30 balls will be delivered as 5 separate overs; one bowler that can bowl a maximum of two overs.

If teams fail to complete their ten overs within the allotted time (45 minutes), one fielder will be removed for the final six balls.

Fans will be able to vote for a “mystery free hit” at any time through an app or website.
