The trophy for the upcoming ICC T20 World Trophy arrived on Monday as part of the Trophy Tour. Kathmandu was announced as one of the 35 Stops where the Trophy would be revealed. The Trophy tour officially began in the second week of July.
It was taken to Chandragiri Hills yesterday whereas the Trophy was publicly shown at Bhaktapur Durbar Square today. The former and current national players – Mehboob Alam, Sharad Vesawkar, Rubina Chhetry, and Binod Das – participated during the Trophy tour.
A number of enthusiastic School kids participated during the tour. The tour started from Nyatapola and ended in Durbar Square. The Trophy was later taken to the prime minister’s office where Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also took a glance at it.
The Trophy was initially scheduled to take in Gokyo Valley and Kala Patthar as well but was canceled due to bad weather.
It was not the first time that ICC Trophy arrived in Nepal. Back in 2018, ICC Trophy (for CWC 2019) arrived in Nepal. The trophy was exhibited in Kathmandu before being taken to Pokhara.
