The police have detained 50 people on suspicion of betting on the match between Nepal and UAE at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) said that 50 people have been arrested on suspicion of betting while the match between Nepal and UAE continued on Thursday.
CIB spokesperson Kamal Thapa said that 50 people were detained from the University cricket ground on suspicion of suspicious activities.
He said, “Based on secret information, we have been monitoring since a few days ago. They were arrested on that basis. An investigation is underway.
It is estimated by the police that when there is at least a 3-second delay in Cricinfo and television live broadcasts, they may have bet on the ground to take advantage of it and bet through the ball-to-ball app.
Uttam Subedi, director of the bureau, said, “There are many who need to be caught.” After investigating the involvement, those found innocent will be released.
The police said that a mobile phone and cash were recovered from the arrested person. According to a police source, the suspicious faces from the first match were kept under surveillance and arrested on Friday.
