By registering a 7-wicket victory against Karnali Province, Bagmati Province has won the fourth consecutive victory in the Under-19 National Tournament. In the second match completed today, Province-1 defeated Madhesh Province by 10 wickets.
While defeating Karnali Pradesh by 7 wickets at TU Maidan Kirtipur, Bagmati met the target of 131 runs given by Karnali by losing 3 wickets in 30.1 overs.
Captain Ashok Poudel scored 59 runs while Lucky Kadayat scored 51 runs unbeaten in Bagmati’s victory. Ashok and Lucky put on a 105-run partnership for the second wicket to set the stage for victory.
After winning the toss, Karnali batted and lost all wickets for 130 runs in 36.2 overs. Karnali’s opener and captain Bipin Rawal scored the highest 68 runs and Manish Thapa scored 25 runs.
Sakriya Karki, Bagmati’s first bowler, took the most 5 wickets. Declared the player of the match, he scored 23 runs in 7.2 overs. Ahmed Raja took 3 wickets and Omkar Yadav and Avishek Koirala took 1 wicket each.
Spectacular victory of Province-1
In the second match held at Mulpani Ground, Madhesh Province was easily defeated by Province-1 by 10 wickets.
Province-1 met the general target of 71 runs given by Madhesh in 19.2 overs without losing a wicket. Opener Sonu Ansari scored an unbeaten 45 and Subhan Gahatraj scored an unbeaten 24.
Madhesh, who won the toss and batted, lost all wickets for 70 runs in 31.3 overs. Apart from Mayan Yadav scoring 19 and W Malik scoring 12 runs, other batsmen could not score runs in double figures.
Captain Dipesh Kandel and Bipin Mahato took 3/3 wickets in the bowling of Province-1. Sandesh Bhattarai took 2 wickets and Aashish Magar and Ashwin Mahato took 1 wicket each.
After the win, Bagmati is second in the points table with 8 points from 4 matches. With the same result, Sudurpaschim is leading in net run rate. Lumbini Province is third with 4 points from 3 matches and Province-1 is fourth with 4 points from 4 matches. Karnali is in fifth place with 2 points in 4 games. Madhesh Pradesh is in the last place after the third defeat in a row.
