Global T20 Canada : Rain Plays Spoilsport as Sandeep’s Bowling Cut Short, Dipendra benched

Nepalese leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, representing Surrey Jaguars in the ongoing Global T20 Canada League in Canada, only managed to bowl 2 balls in his second match.

Brampton Wolves lost the toss and scored 50 runs after losing 3 wickets in 7.2 overs. The game was interrupted by rain, after which the game could not be resumed, both teams shared 1/1 points.

Sandeep Lamichhane started bowling in the eighth over and conceded 3 runs in 2 balls. Pakistani batsman Hussain Talat scored 2 runs on his first ball and 1 run on the second ball.

Dipendra Airee, another Nepalese player representing the Montreal Tigers, could not make it to the playing xi despite his good performance in the first game. The Tigers dropped Airee, giving leg-spin all-rounder Matthew Spoors a chance.

Dipendra made his debut against Surrey Jaguars in the previous match of the league, scoring an impressive 28 runs in 22 balls with the help of 2 fours.

In the game against Mississauga Panthers, Montreal Tigers secured a victory by 7 wickets, registering their second win in a row. The Tigers chased down the target of 141 runs given by the Panthers in 15.5 overs. Kaleem Sana took 3 wickets, and Carlos Brathwaite took 2 wickets in the Tigers’ victory. Captain Chris Lynn scored an unbeaten 64, Shakib Al Hasan scored 36, and Sharfane Rutherford contributed with 27 runs.

Surrey Jaguars, Sandeep Lamichhane’s team, will play their next match tomorrow, Tuesday, against the Toronto Nationals at 8:45 pm Nepali time (25th July 8:45 PM).

Montreal Tigers, Dipendra Airee’s team, will play their next game against Vancouver Knights on Tuesday Night (26th July 1:15 AM).
