Nepal Cricket Team Faces Defeat in First Practice Match on Sri Lankan Tour

Nepali cricket team, currently on a 15-day high-performance camp as part of the Sri Lankan tour, suffered a 6-wicket defeat against Bloomfield Cricket Club in the first practice match.

Bloomfield achieved the target of 198 runs set by Nepal, losing only 4 wickets in a mere 24.3 overs at the Bloomfield Cricket Club ground.

During the match, Bloomfield opener Hasitha Boyagoda scored an impressive 90 runs off just 53 balls, including 7 fours and 7 sixes. Ashan Fernando contributed an unbeaten 56 runs. In Nepal’s bowling attack, left-arm spinners Surya Tamang and Pratish GC each took 2 wickets. Tamang conceded 17 runs with 1 maiden over in 6 overs, while Pratish spent 14 runs in 4 overs.

Winning the toss, Nepal could not bat for the entire 45 overs and was bowled out for 197 runs in 43.4 overs.

In Nepal’s batting lineup, opener Arjun Saud scored the highest with 79 runs, smashing 4 fours and 3 sixes in 113 balls. Sundeep Jora contributed 31 runs, Dev Khanal scored 22 runs, Pratish GC scored 16 runs, Karan KC scored 11 runs, and Pawan Sarraf and Gulsan Jha scored 10 and 9 runs respectively, while Kushal MallA was dismissed with just 3 runs.

Malinda Perera, Dineth Samaraweera, Nimesh Tharidu, and Asitha Wanninayake each took 2 wickets in Bloomfield’s bowling attack.

As part of the tour, Nepal will play their next match against Tamil Union on Friday. The match is scheduled to start at 10 am at R. Premadasha Cricket Stadium.
