Nepal Crushes Malaysia to Win ACC U-16 East Zone Cup

Nepal won the ACC U-16 East Zone Cup cricket title by defeating the home team Malaysia by a huge margin of 221 runs.

Nepal has succeeded in winning the East Zone Cup Under-16 for the third time. Nepal previously won the ACC U-16 Eastern Region tournament in 2017 and 2019.

Chasing a target of 253 runs in the finals held at Byums Oval, Malaysia were bowled out for 31 runs in 14.5 overs. Apart from Malaysia’s Muhammad Akram scoring 10 runs, no other player could score double-digit runs. Nepal’s Abhishekh Tiwari took 5 wickets in which 7 runs were spent in 6 overs. Santosh Yadav took 3 wickets. Sagar Gaire and Ashok Dhami took 1 wicket each.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Nepal scored 252 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 35 overs.

Niraj Yadav and Suryanshu Koirala got off to a good start with a partnership of 41 runs off 44 balls for the first wicket. Yadav scored 47 runs in 49 balls with the help of 6 fours. Koirala scored 18 runs off 23 balls.

Naren Bhatta and Niraj shared an important partnership of 55 runs off 55 balls for the second wicket. There was no remarkable partnership for the third and fourth wickets. For the fifth wicket, Santosh Yadav and Naren Bhatt shared a century partnership of 103 runs in 76 balls and took the team to a huge total.

Santosh Yadav contributed 26 runs off 29 balls with the help of 2 fours. Ashok Dhami scored 11 runs in 7 balls including 1 six.

For Malaysia, Muhammad Akram took 3 wickets and Areean Aqeel and Muhammad Fathul took 1/1 wicket each.
