Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Airee to Miss Emerging Asia Cup Due to Global T20 Canada Commitments

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has revealed the lineup for the upcoming ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023, but two notable players will be absent from the squad.

Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Airee, who have been instrumental in Nepal’s cricketing success, won’t be able to participate in the tournament due to their commitments in the Global T20 Canada.

The ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka from July 14 to 23, showcasing some of the most promising young talents from across Asia. Unfortunately, Lamichhane and Airee will miss this opportunity as they are set to play in the Global T20 Canada tournament, which runs from July 20 to August 6.

Sandeep Lamichhane, known for his exceptional leg-spin bowling, will represent the Surrey Jaguars in the Global T20 Canada. On the other hand, Dipendra Airee, an prominent all-rounder, will join the Montreal Tigers. Notably, this will mark Airee’s first appearance in the prestigious Global Franchise T20 tournament.

In light of Sandeep Lamichhane’s absence, the CAN has included the promising young leg-spinner Shyam Dhakal, popularly known as Mausam Dhakal, in the 16-member squad for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

The absence of Lamichhane and Airee undoubtedly leaves a void in Nepal’s squad for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
