The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has sent six cricketers to India for a month of special training.
CAN has sent six cricketers to Delhi for training. Five of the players have played for the national team, while one player is a new addition. The players are:
Right-arm pacer Kamal Singh Airee
Left-arm pacer Kamal Khatri
Wicket-keeper right-arm batsman Binod Bhandari
Wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Bam
Left-arm spinner Sagar Dhakal
Right-arm fast bowling all-rounder Bibek Yadav
The new addition to the team is Kamal Khatri of Koshi province. Khatri is a tall left-arm pacer who has been playing the role of net bowler in the closed training of the national team for the past few years. Khatri, who played in the domestic T-20 League Pokhara Premier League, is going to be prepared as an alternative left-handed fast bowler in the national team.
Similarly, CAN has also sent Binod Bhandari, who could not make it to the national team, for training in India. Bhandari has also been included in the team for the Asian Games. Bibek Yadav, Sagar Dhakal, Lokesh Bam, who failed to make it to the national team since last year, have also gone to India. Furthermore, Kamal Singh Airee, a promising right-arm fast bowler, has been given the opportunity to participate in the training as well, as he is seen as a potential alternative in the pace department.
According to CAN, these 6 players will train with Pradeep Sahu under the supervision of head coach Monty Desai in India.
The leg-spinner, Pradeep Sahu, boasts experience representing teams like Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Additionally, he has showcased his skills in Nepal’s Everest Premier League. Moreover, Sahu has contributed as an assistant spin bowling coach for the Australian cricket team.
Lately, as there is no domestic cricket in Nepal, Nepali national cricketers have been practicing at Sahu’s academy.
