Pakistan Cricket Team to Travel to India for 2023 ODI World Cup

Pakistan’s men’s cricket team has received confirmation from the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that they will indeed travel to India to participate in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The foreign ministry emphasized that sports should not be entangled with politics, and Pakistan is committed to fulfilling its international sports-related obligations despite the current state of bilateral relations with India.

It is noteworthy that the ODI World Cup follows the Asia Cup, which was originally supposed to be hosted by Pakistan. However, due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan, Sri Lanka was selected as the co-host for the tournament, with all of India’s matches scheduled in the island country. The foreign ministry’s statement subtly reminded India of this fact.

In preparation for the World Cup, Pakistan officials have been assessing security arrangements at the various venues where the team will play. This event will mark the first time the Pakistan men’s cricket team travels to India since the 2016 T20 World Cup. The last bilateral series between the two countries on Indian soil was held in December 2012-January 2013.

This year, fans can look forward to potential India-Pakistan encounters three times during the Asia Cup, as both teams are grouped together in ‘Group A.’ Additionally, they are scheduled to face each other in the World Cup on October 15 in Ahmedabad, though the date may be subject to change due to security considerations.
