The Nepali cricket team, set to participate in the Asian Games in China, received a warm farewell from officials of the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) during a recent event. The new CAN working committee was elected just this past Saturday.
Nepal’s upcoming matches in the tournament include a game against Mongolia on September 27 and another against Maldives on October 1. Should Nepal advance from the group stage, they will have the opportunity to compete against teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Bangladesh.
Several changes have been made to the team that previously participated in the Asia Cup in preparation for the Asian Games. Notable additions include wicketkeeper Binod Bhandari, all-rounder Bibek Kumar Yadav, and fast bowler Abinash Bohara.
Binod and Aasif are two wicketkeepers in the Nepali team . Experienced batsmen in the lineup include Kushal Bhurtel, Rohit Paudel, and Sandeep Zora, while all-rounders Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Malla, and Bivek Yadav add depth to the squad.
The fast bowling department is represented by Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Gulsan Jha, Pratish JC, and Abinash Bohra, with Sandeep Lamichhane & Sagar Dhakal as the spinner. Unfortunately, Lalit Rajbanshi will miss the Asian Games due to injury, sustained during practice, which required surgery.
