Nepal lost the toss and batted first at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka. They scored 230 runs in 48.2 overs, all out. Due to rain, the match was shortened to 23 overs. India was then set a target of 145 runs, which they chased down in 20.1 overs without losing any wickets.
Captain Rohit Sharma led the way with an unbeaten 74 runs, while Subhman Gill scored an unbeaten 67 runs for India. Sharma hit 5 sixes and 6 fours while facing 59 balls, while Gill hit one six and eight fours in his 62-ball innings.
Before that, Nepal lost all their wickets in 42.2 overs, reaching a total of 230 runs. For Nepal, Asif Sheikh scored 58, Sompal Kami 48, Kushal Bhurtel 38, Dipendra Singh Airi 29, and Gulsan Jha added 23 runs.
On the bowling side, India’s Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj took three wickets each, while Mohammad Sami, Hardik Pandya, and Shardul Thakur each secured one wicket.
Nepal had previously suffered a 238-run defeat to Pakistan in their first match, leaving them with no points. Pakistan has secured the top position in Group A, while India has advanced to the Super Four stage.
