Nepal announces two squads for Canada series and League-2, Rijan Dhakal, Hemant Dhami, and Aakash Chand earn maiden Nepal call-ups

Nepal has announced the team for the three ODI series against Canada at home and the triangular series against Namibia and the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup League 2.

The series with Canada will be held from February 8 to 12 followed by World Cup League-2 action February 15th through 24th.

On Sunday, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced two different teams for the Canada Series and the League Two Series.

Left-arm fast bowler Rijan Dhakal has been included in the team in both the series. Fast bowlers Hemant Dhami and Aakash Chand have been included in the Nepali team for the series against Canada.

Rijan, Aakash and Hemant have all been included in the Nepali cricket team for the first time. Left-handed bowler Rijan, playing for Bagmati Province, took 15 wickets in 9 matches in the Prime Minister’s Cup 2024.

Aakash Chand, a right-arm fast bowler, tore through the Afghan batting order with a five-wicket haul in the U-19 World Cup. Sadly, another right-arm fast bowler, Hemant, missed the tournament due to a leg injury.

Left-arm spinner Surya Tamang, who was declared the player of the series of the Prime Minister’s Cup, is included in the team for both the series. Represeting Bagmati Province Tamang took 30 wickets throughout the tournament. Surya is also the player who has taken the most wickets in a single edition in the history of the tournament.

Anil Shah, who was declared the best batsman by scoring the most runs in the Prime Minister’s Cup One Day National Tournament, has also returned to the national team. Shah, who opened the batting from Madhesh Province, scored 386 runs including 1 century and 2 fifties in 9 matches of the tournament.
