Nepal has reached the semi-finals of the ongoing ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia. Nepal defeated Kuwait to secure their spot in the semi-finals.
Nepal clinched victory over Kuwait by 8 wickets in Bangi, Malaysia. They are set to face Malaysia in the finals on Friday, with the winner advancing to the Asia Cup for the first time.
Kuwait set a target of 74 runs, but due to rain, Nepal was given a revised target of 50 runs in 12 overs. Nepal successfully chased down the target, losing 2 wickets in 6.5 overs.
Captain Indu Burma led Nepal with an unbeaten 22 runs off 21 balls, while Sita Rana Magar contributed 17 runs off 15 balls. Sita and Indu shared a partnership of 40 runs off 34 balls for the second wicket. Kabita Joshi remained unbeaten on 4 runs.
Prior to this match, Kuwait, having won the toss, scored 73 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
For Kuwait, opener Priyada Murali scored 29 off 33 balls, with Shanthi Balasubramanian and Khadija Khalil contributing 13 runs each. However, no other Kuwaiti batter managed to reach double figures.
Nepal’s bowling was spearheaded by Sita Ranamar, who claimed three wickets including a hat-trick, while Rubina Chhetry and Kabita Kunwar picked up two wickets each.
Nepal’s journey in the tournament saw victories against Hong Kong and Bhutan, both by eight wickets, and a resounding 214-run win over Maldives in the group stage.
The two finalists of the tournament will qualify for the Asia Cup. The semi-final match is scheduled for Friday.
