The Netherlands secured a victory over Nepal in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup, held in the West Indies and USA. The match took place at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas, USA.
The Netherlands chased down the target of 107 runs set by Nepal, losing only 4 wickets in 18.4 overs.
Max O’Dowd was the star of the match for the Netherlands, scoring an unbeaten 54 runs off 48 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six. Vikramjit Singh contributed 22 runs off 28 balls, and Sybrand Engelbrecht added 14 runs off 16 balls.
For Nepal, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Abhinash Bohara each took one wicket.
Earlier, Nepal, having lost the toss, opted to bat first. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel top-scored with 35 runs off 37 balls, hitting 5 fours. Karan KC added 17 runs off 12 balls with the help of 2 sixes, Gulsan Jha made 14 runs off 15 balls, and Anil Shah scored 11 runs off 12 balls.
Tim Pringle and Logan Van Beek were the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands, each taking three wickets. Paul Van Meekeren and Bas De Leede chipped in with two wickets apiece.
With this win, the Netherlands is now in second place in Group D, while Nepal is in fourth place. Nepal’s next matches are scheduled against Sri Lanka on June 11, South Africa on June 14, and Bangladesh on June 16.
