The Central Working Committee of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) held a meeting on Thursday and made several important decisions:
- Provincial Players’ Remuneration: CAN has decided to provide a monthly remuneration of NPR 15,000 for one year to five players (two women and three men) from each of the seven provincial cricket associations, effective from September 1. For this, the budget for the remuneration of 35 players will be allocated to the provinces, which will then make agreements with the players and distribute the payments accordingly. This decision aims to encourage provincial players to represent their respective provinces.
- Incentive Allowance: Players of the national cricket team who performed exceptionally in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and the USA, along with the head coach, will receive an incentive allowance of NPR 300,000 each. Other support staff will receive NPR 150,000 each as an incentive allowance.
- Nepal Premier League (NPL): It has been decided that the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will be held in Kathmandu from November 30 to December 21, 2024, with the participation of 8 franchise teams. In previous franchise leagues held in Nepal, there were 6 participating teams.
- U-19 Men’s National Cricket Tournament: It has been decided to organize the U-19 Men’s National Cricket Tournament in Koshi Province in September/October. The dates for the tournament will be announced soon.
- Elite Cup Cricket Tournament: As part of the annual program of the association, it has been decided to organize the multi-day Elite Cup Cricket Tournament in Janakpur and Birgunj of Madhesh Province from the last week of October.
- Preparation for the Women’s World Cup Asia Qualifier: In preparation for the ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup Asia Qualifier, it has been decided to conduct the first phase of closed training from September 15 in Lamahi, Dang.
- Formation of the National Selection Committee: As per the notice issued by the association, a 3-member National Selection Committee has been formed, headed by former national cricket team captain Mr. Lekh Bahadur Chhetri, with former national cricketer Unil Shrestha and Mr. Murtuja Hawari as members. Previously, Dipendra Chaudhary was the head of the selection committee.
- Annual General Meeting: The Annual General Meeting of the Cricket Association of Nepal will be held on Ashoj 11 and 12, 2081 BS (September 27 and 28, 2024) in Pokhara, Gandaki Province.
- Aadil Alam Match-Fixing Case: Regarding the process of lifting the suspension of suspended national cricket player Aadil Alam, who was acquitted in a match-fixing case by the court, it was agreed to discuss the report received from the association’s Disciplinary Committee, and to submit the report and necessary documents to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit through the CAN Integrity Committee coordinator, and to make a decision based on the instructions received from the ICC.
