Oman national cricket team captain Aqib Ilyas has joined the Biratnagar Kings in the Nepal Premier League.
The team, which has leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane as its marquee player, announced through social media that Ilyas is the first foreign player to join their squad.
The 32-year-old leg-spin all-rounder has played 32 ODIs and 56 T20 internationals for Oman. In his T20I career, Ilyas has scored 1,330 runs, including 10 half-centuries, and has taken 23 wickets.
Ilyas is the second-highest run-scorer for Oman in T20 internationals, trailing only Zeeshan Maqsood, who has 1,369 runs from 73 matches.
Previously, Biratnagar had announced the appointment of former Irish cricketer Paul Stirling as the team’s coach.
