Pokhara Avengers Sign USA Wicketkeeper-Batter Andries Gous as Their First Overseas Player for Nepal Premier League

Pokhara Avengers, with Kushal Bhurtel as their marquee player, have announced their first overseas signing for the Nepal Premier League.

Wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous, who has represented the USA in 20 T20 Internationals and 3 One-Day Internationals, will play for the Avengers. Born in South Africa, Gous is also a former South Africa Under-19 cricketer.

Pokhara Avengers confirmed the signing of Gous via their social media platforms. After the announcement, the 31-year-old expressed his excitement through a video message, stating this will be his first visit to Nepal and he is looking forward to playing there.

Gous brings valuable experience, having played in the Caribbean Premier League earlier this year, and he has also featured in other franchise leagues such as Global T20 Canada, Major League Cricket, and the International League T20.

In this year’s T20 World Cup, held in the USA and the West Indies, Gous was the top run-scorer for the USA, scoring 219 runs in 6 matches at an average of 43.80 and a strike rate of 151.03. He notched two half-centuries in the tournament, including an unbeaten 80 from 47 balls against South Africa, where he smashed 5 fours and 5 sixes. He also scored 65 runs off 46 balls against Canada, with 7 fours and 3 sixes.

Since making his debut for the USA in April of this year, Gous has played 20 T20 internationals, amassing 598 runs at an average of 33.22 and a strike rate of 148.01, including 5 half-centuries. He hit two half-centuries in his first two debut matches against Canada.
