Paras Khadka, Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), has expressed his wish to hold the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) under floodlights.
Speaking to the media on Monday about the tournament, Khadka shared that CAN aims to make the first edition of the NPL an international-level event to draw wide attention. He emphasized that such efforts could attract the government’s interest and boost investment in the league.
“Our intention is to hold the second edition under floodlights. Whether CAN or the Nepal government will fund the floodlights, we will know by the next season,” Khadka said.
According to Khadka, CAN’s study estimates that installing floodlights would cost around NPR 300 million. He noted that while government officials have suggested that NPR 300 million is not a significant amount, the work is yet to be undertaken.
The first edition of the NPL, organized by CAN, is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 21. Although the government has decided to install floodlights at the TU Cricket Ground, the work has not progressed as expected.
