The Lumbini Lions team of the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) has officially announced celebrated actor Rajesh Hamal as their brand ambassador. The announcement was made during a press conference held on Monday at Hotel Hilton, Naxal, in Kathmandu.
Joining an already star-studded lineup, Hamal’s appointment comes as Lumbini Lions proudly feature Nepal national team captain Rohit Paudel as their marquee player.
Rajesh Hamal, known as the ‘Mahanayak’ (superstar) of the Nepali film industry, has had a distinguished career with iconic roles and powerful performances. Known for his exceptional dialogue delivery and commanding screen presence, Hamal has long been celebrated as a symbol of Nepali cinema. Now, he is set to bring his inspirational presence to Nepali sports through his association with the Lumbini Lions.
Expressing his excitement about this new role, Hamal remarked, “I am truly happy and proud to be associated with Lumbini Lions. I am inspired by their commitment not only to the NPL but also to the broader promotion of cricket. Through this partnership, I’m excited to contribute to promoting Lumbini Lions and the sport of cricket in Nepal.”
Ishwar GC, Chairman of Lumbini Lions, welcomed Hamal, saying, “We are thrilled to bring the ‘Lion’ of the film industry to Lumbini Lions. Our vision is to make Lumbini Lions the top team in the NPL, and Rajesh Hamal’s arrival brings us closer to that goal. As someone born in Lumbini and with a deep connection to cricket, this partnership fills me with pride. We are progressing with a focus on building the best team, having secured a captain, consultant coach, and now a brand ambassador.”
The Nepal Premier League (NPL) is set to run from November 30 to December 21, with the Lumbini Lions’ recent announcement expected to bring renewed energy to both the team and the league.
