Harsh Thaker’s Five-Wicket Haul Seals Thrilling One-Run Victory for Janakpur Bolts in NPL

In a thrilling contest, Harsh Thaker’s exceptional five-wicket haul powered Janakpur Bolts to their fourth consecutive victory in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Janakpur narrowly defeated Lumbini Lions by just one run in the match held at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Sunday morning.

With this win, Janakpur has significantly strengthened its chances of qualifying for the playoffs, while Lumbini’s fourth consecutive loss has diminished its hopes of advancing to the next stage.

Chasing a target of 137 runs, Lumbini fell short, scoring 135 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Rohit Paudel top-scored for Lumbini with 35 runs off 38 balls, hitting three boundaries. Tom Moores contributed 31, Arjun Saud scored 20, and Sundeep Jora added 16 runs to the total.

For Janakpur, Harsh Thaker was the star with the ball, claiming five wickets while conceding just 23 runs in his four overs. He was deservedly named Player of the Match. Lalit Rajbanshi, Sher Malla, and Kishore Mahato each took one wicket.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Janakpur managed to score 136 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Captain and opener Anil Sah led the batting effort with a 45-run knock off 39 balls, including one four and four sixes. Lahiru Milantha scored 24, Subh Kansakar remained unbeaten on 22, and Aasif Sheikh added 16 runs, while the rest of the batters failed to reach double figures.

For Lumbini, Abhishesh Gautam bowled brilliantly, taking three wickets for just 20 runs in his full quota of four overs. Captain Rohit Paudel and Saad Bin Zafar picked up two wickets each, while Sundeep Jora chipped in with one.

Janakpur’s impressive winning streak includes victories over Biratnagar Kings and Karnali Yaks by eight wickets each and a seven-wicket win against Pokhara Avengers.

In contrast, Lumbini has struggled, suffering losses to Biratnagar twice, a 10-wicket defeat to Pokhara Avengers, and a 45-run loss to Sudurpaschim Royals.
