Legendary West Indies Cricketer Brian Lara Arrives in Nepal

Renowned West Indies cricketer Brian Lara has arrived in Nepal. He landed in Kathmandu on Friday morning, where he was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by officials of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

Lara is in Nepal at the invitation of CAN to witness the inaugural season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which is currently underway in Kathmandu. According to CAN, the former West Indies captain will watch some of the NPL matches, interact with players, and spend time in the commentary box. Lara is accompanied by his daughter on this visit.

The cricketing legend will stay in Nepal for three days, during which he will attend NPL matches and engage with fans and players, adding excitement to the tournament.

Lara represented the West Indies national team from 1990 to 2007. In 131 Test matches, he amassed an impressive 11,953 runs, including 34 centuries and 48 half-centuries. Lara also holds the world record for the highest individual score in a Test innings, scoring an unbeaten 400 runs against England on April 12, 2004.

In addition, Lara played 299 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the West Indies, scoring 10,405 runs with 19 centuries and 63 half-centuries.

His presence in Nepal has created a buzz among cricket fans, and his participation in NPL activities is expected to inspire young players and enthusiasts alike.
