Cricket is all about stats, number and trivias. It makes game more fascinating. Here are such stats and unique records that were made during recently concluded Nepal Premier League (NPL).
- 15 times bowlers picked wicket on their first over but only twice was it on the first delivery itself. Sohail Tanvir wreaked havoc when he took 3 wickets, including a wicket off the first ball in his first Nepal Premier League (NPL) appearance against Pokhara Avengers. Scott Kuggeleijn of Sudurpaschim Royals took a wicket off the first ball against Lumbini Lions when he dismissed Arjun Saud.
- 4 players hit six on the first ball they faced but only one batter did on the first ball of the innings. Lumbini Lions’ Ashutosh Ghiraiya smoked six off the first ball he faced in the tournament.
- The most runs in powerplay was 80/0 by Pokhara Avengers against Lumbini Lions. Andries Gous was at his devastating best as he reached 46 off just 19 balls in the powerplay itself.
- First time in the tournament both teams didn’t lose any wickets in the powerplay – it was in the finals. Sudurpaschim Royals reached 48/0 after 6 overs despite playing two maiden overs. Janakpur Bolts did it even better as they raced to 71/0 in 6 Overs chasing 185.
- Janakpur Bolts chased down a target of 185 in 19.2 Overs to lift the maiden Nepal Premier League (NPL). In the 11 finals across five franchise leagues, it’s the highest successful run-chase.
- Only one century came in the tournament as Andries Gous hit an unbeaten 104 against Lumbini Lions while chasing 171 in the league stage match.
- Biratnagar Kings scored 74 runs off the final five overs against Chitwan Rhinos, making it the most runs in the last five overs of NPL. In the same game, they took 129 off the final 10 Overs as well. No surprise, it was the most runs in the last 10 Overs as well.
- The first-time fielder took as many as five catches in this NPL (Anil Sah v Kathmandu Gurkhas). It was also the first time in a franchise league in Nepal. Despite missing playoff matches, Anil took the most number of catches (12) in NPL.
- James Neesham hit the most no. of sixes – 23, which is 8 more than any player in the competition. Neesham also features twice in the list of highest strike rate in an innings [min: 30 runs]. 65 off 24 vs Chitwan Rhinos & 45 off 17 vs Karnali Yaks
- Only once batter hit three consecutive sixes. Lumbini Lions‘ Tom Moores took Anil Kharel of Biratnagar Kings for a cleaner
- Biratnagar Kings chased a record 192 runs against Lumbini Lions in this Nepal Premier League (NPL). It’s the second-highest successful chase in franchise leagues in Nepal since the Everest Premier League started in 2016.
- Harmeet Singh bowled an unbelievable spell: 4-2-2-2 against Janakpur Bolts in the league stage. It’s the most economical 4-over spell in franchise leagues in Nepal.
