Mid-Western University Wins ‘T20 Jay Nepal Cup’ Cricket Tournament

Mid-Western University has won the title of the South Asian University ‘T20 Jay Nepal Cup’ Cricket Tournament.

In the final held at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Tuesday, Mid-Western University defeated Lucknow University, India, by 58 runs. With the victory, Mid-Western University received NPR 1.5 million, while runner-up Lucknow University was awarded NPR 1 million.

Chasing a target of 176 runs, Lucknow University could only manage 117 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

For Lucknow, opener Maman Kandpal scored the highest 58 runs, while Harshvardhan Singh and Yashvardhan Singh added 15 and 14 runs, respectively.

In bowling, Diwan from Mid-Western University took 3 wickets, while Rajkumar Sah grabbed 2 wickets. Ravindra Jung Shahi, Subash Bhandari, and Dinesh Adhikari took one wicket each.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat, Mid-Western University posted 175 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

For Mid-Western, Diwan Pun and Bipin Khatri scored half-centuries.

Bipin remained unbeaten on 59 runs. Diwan scored 58 runs with his all-round performance. Nischal Rawal and Rajkumar Sah added 19 and 15 runs, respectively.

In bowling for Lucknow, Harshvardhan Singh, Maman Kandpal, and Abhishek Soni took one wicket each.

The tournament, organized by the Nepal Student Union (NSU) affiliated with the Nepali Congress, started on Magh 7.

Participating teams included:

Nepal: Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University, Mid-Western University, and Purwanchal University.

India: Delhi University, Lucknow University, and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University.

Bangladesh: Dhaka University.
