Arjun Trophy: Dadeldhura Wins as Kushal Bhurtel Shines

The Arjun Trophy National Cricket Tournament kicked off today at Fapla International Cricket Ground, Dhangadhi. The tournament, which is part of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN)’s annual calendar, was inaugurated by Sudurpashchim Province’s Minister of Social Development, Meghraj Khadka. CAN President Chatur Bahadur Bista attended the event as the chief guest, and renowned singer Chakra Bam delivered a musical performance at the opening ceremony.

Friends Club Dadeldhura Secures First Win

Dedicated to the late Arjun Khadka, a key figure in the development of cricket in Dhangadhi and Sudurpashchim Province, the tournament saw Friends Club Dadeldhura claim a dominant victory in the opening match.

In the first game, Dadeldhura defeated DCA Dhangadhi by 8 wickets. Batting first, DCA Dhangadhi scored 132/9 in 20 overs. Amit Shrestha was the top scorer with 32 runs, while Niraj Airee added 27, and captain Narayan Joshi contributed 16. Rahul Luniya took 3 wickets for Dadeldhura, while Kushal Bhurtel and Ravi Bista claimed 2 wickets each.

Chasing 133, Dadeldhura reached the target in 15.5 overs, powered by an outstanding 87 off 51 balls from Kushal Bhurtel*, supported by Binod Bhandari’s 42 runs. Bhurtel was named Man of the Match, receiving NPR 10,000 and a trophy.
