The third day of the Arjun Trophy National T20 Championship saw two impressive performances as FYC Dadeldhura and CYC Attariya secured commanding victories in their respective matches.
In the first match, FYC Dadeldhura emerged victorious against Boston Cricket Jhapa by 77 runs.
Batting first after a delayed start due to bad weather, FYC Dadeldhura posted a challenging total of 143/3 in 15 overs. Aayushman Bam was the star performer with an unbeaten 57, supported by Captain Sundeep Jora’s solid 51.
However, despite a strong performance in the previous match, Kushal Bhurtel could only manage 2 runs, while Binod Bhandari was dismissed for 5.
In reply, Boston Cricket Jhapa failed to chase the target, being restricted to 66/9.
Dipu Bhujel (15) and Sanam Budathoki (17) were the only batters to reach double figures, while the rest of the lineup struggled to cope with the disciplined attack from FYC Dadeldhura’s bowlers.
Kushal Bhurtel was the standout with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 12 runs. Ajay Chauhan and Captain Jora also contributed with key wickets, playing a vital role in the team’s success.
Aayushman Bam was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance, contributing both with the bat and supporting his team in the field.
In the second match, CYC Attariya defeated Cricket Excellence Center Kathmandu (CEC Kathmandu) by an emphatic 86 runs.
CYC Attariya, batting first, posted a total of 142/8 in their 20 overs.
Bibek Yadav anchored the innings with an unbeaten 53, while Santosh Karki contributed a valuable 23. Despite tight bowling spells from CEC Kathmandu’s Dipendra Rawat (2/18) and Yunish Bikram Singh (2/21), CYC Attariya set a challenging target.
In their chase, CEC Kathmandu faltered, being bowled out for just 56. Sonu Ansari top-scored with 15, and Bipin Aacharya added 11, but the rest of the lineup failed to handle the relentless attack from CYC Attariya.
The standout performer for CYC Attariya was Kamal Gupta, who claimed an outstanding 5 wickets for just 10 runs in 3.2 overs, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Dipesh Kandel also impressed with 2 wickets for 4 runs in just 2 overs, while Sahab Alam and Sushil Saud chipped in with a wicket each to complete the dominant performance.
The Arjun Trophy National T20 Championship will feature two thrilling encounters tomorrow. The first match will see Dashrath Chand Academy Baitadi go up against New Horizon Butwal, followed by the second match between DCA Dhangadi and Baston Cricket Jhapa.
The competition is part of the Nepal Cricket Association’s annual calendar and will run until Magh 28.
