Nepal Faces Third Consecutive Defeat in Tri-Series

Kathmandu – Nepal faced their third consecutive loss in the Triangular T20I Women’s Series, suffering a 15-run defeat against the Netherlands at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

Batting first, the Netherlands posted 140/9 in 20 overs. Captain Babette de Leede top-scored with 41 runs, while Heather Siegers (26) and Robine Rijke (21) provided crucial contributions.

Nepal’s bowlers put up a strong fight, with Sita Rana Magar shining as the standout performer. She claimed 5 wickets for just 12 runs in her 3 overs. Manisha Upadhayay took 2 wickets for 31 runs, while Kabita Joshi and Indu Barma picked up one wicket each.

In reply, Nepal struggled to chase the target and managed 125/8 in 20 overs. Captain Indu Barma led the fight with 30 runs, while Samjhana Khadka (23), Pooja Mahato (18), and Kabita Joshi (14) tried to steady the innings.

Despite their efforts, early wickets and a lack of partnerships proved costly. Rubina Chhetri and Bindu Rawal were dismissed for ducks, and Alisha Yadav managed only 5 runs.

The Netherlands’ bowling attack was disciplined, with Iris Zwilling, Heather Siegers, and Caroline de Lange taking 2 wickets each. Eva Lynch and Isabel van der Woning also chipped in with one wicket each.

This defeat follows Nepal’s previous 20-run loss to the Netherlands and a 4-wicket loss to Thailand, leaving them winless in the series.
