The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially lifted the suspension of cricketer Mohammad Aadil Alam, allowing him to participate in both domestic and international cricket tournaments with effect from Sunday, Baisakh 21, 2081 (May 5, 2025).
Alam was previously banned on allegations of spot-fixing during the Nepal T20 League organized by CAN at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, from Poush 9 to Poush 27, 2079 (December 24, 2022 to January 11, 2023).
Following the accusation, he was barred from all forms of national and international cricket under CAN’s Anti-Corruption Code. However, the Kathmandu District Court recently acquitted Alam of all charges, leading to the decision by CAN to revoke his suspension.
Mohammad Aadil Alam, a talented all-rounder from Rautahat, has represented Nepal at various age-group and senior levels. Known for his ability to contribute with both bat and ball, Alam had shown promising signs before his suspension interrupted his rising career. His return is expected to boost the depth and balance of Nepali cricket, particularly in the shorter formats.
With his name now cleared, Alam is expected to make a return to competitive cricket and will be looking to reestablish his place in the national squad.
