Nepal Women cruised to a 9-wicket victory over Bahrain Women in their second match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier, currently underway in Thailand.
The rain-affected match was reduced to 5 overs per side at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok. Bahrain, batting first, managed 41 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Captain Deepika Rasangika top-scored with an aggressive 34* off 13 deliveries, including 6 fours and 1 six. Nepal’s only wicket came from Puja Mahato, who dismissed Zaynep Fazli for 2 runs. Kabita Kunwar bowled an economical spell, finishing with figures of 2 overs, 6 runs, and 0 wickets.
Chasing 42, Nepal reached the target comfortably in 4.2 overs with 9 wickets in hand. Kabita Kunwar starred with the bat as well, scoring 18 off 11 balls (4 boundaries). Samjhana Khadka remained unbeaten on 13 off 10, while skipper Indu Barma contributed 7* off 5 balls.
Kabita Kunwar was deservedly named Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
