Scotland Beat Nepal by 34 Runs to Clinch Tri-Nation T20I Series

Nepal suffered a 34-run defeat against hosts Scotland in the final match of the Tri-Nation T20I Series on Friday.

Chasing a stiff target of 194, Nepal were bowled out for 159 runs in 18.5 overs.

Rupesh Singh top-scored for Nepal with a quickfire 43 off 22 balls, smashing 1 four and 3 sixes. Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 34 runs off 33 balls, while captain Rohit Kumar Paudel added 27 runs off 20 deliveries, hitting 4 boundaries. Asif Sheikh (14), Bhim Sharki (12), and Aarif Sheikh (5) failed to convert their starts.

For Scotland, Chris Greaves picked up 3 wickets while Safyaan Sharif claimed 2.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, Scotland posted 193/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener George Munsey played a blistering knock of 78 runs off 39 balls, hitting 5 fours and 6 sixes, before being caught by Rohit off the bowling of Kushal Bhurtel.

Munsey and Mark Watt put on 34 runs for the first wicket, with Watt scoring 9 runs before being bowled by Rupesh Singh. Munsey then shared a crucial 100-run stand off 56 balls with Brandon McMullen, who scored 42 off 30 deliveries with 4 fours and a six.

Michael Leask added a quick 26 off 17 balls, while Matthew Cross remained unbeaten on 17 off 13. Captain Richie Berrington was dismissed for 9, caught by Lokesh Bam off Kushal’s bowling.

For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel took 2 wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Rupesh Singh picked up one wicket each.

With this win, Scotland finished top of the points table with 2 wins and 2 losses from 4 matches, securing the series title. Nepal also registered 2 wins and 2 losses but finished second due to a lower net run rate. The Netherlands ended the tournament in third place.
