Nepal continued their resurgence in the ongoing Top End T20 Series in Australia’s Northern Territory, registering their second consecutive victory with a 33-run win over Melbourne Renegades Academy on Wednesday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Nepal posted 139/9 in 20 overs. All-rounder Kushal Malla top-scored with 29 runs, while skipper Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 27. Lokesh Bam added a quickfire 24 off 16 balls to give Nepal a competitive total.
In reply, the Renegades were bundled out for 106 runs in 20 overs. Medium pacer Sompal Kami was the star of the match, claiming 5 wickets for just 17 runs in 4 overs. Kushal Bhurtel picked up 2 wickets, while Rupesh Singh, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Shahab Alam chipped in with one apiece.
For the Renegades, Arjun Nair scored 26 runs, while Jay Lemire (18) and Harry Dixon (16) offered resistance but failed to stop Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack.
Earlier with the ball, the Renegades’ bowlers shared the spoils as Fergus O’Neill, Lachlan Bangs, Callum Stow, and Michael Archer each picked up two wickets.
This win follows Nepal’s 66-run triumph over Hobart Hurricanes Academy on Tuesday, marking back-to-back victories after three straight defeats at the start of the tournament.
With two wins from five matches, Nepal now sit seventh on the points table with 4 points. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals.
Nepal will next face Pakistan Shaheens on Friday, aiming to continue their momentum and stay in the hunt for a semi-final spot.
