Top End T20: Nandan’s fifer powers Nepal to first win

Nepal registered their maiden victory in the ongoing Top End T20 Series in Australia’s Northern Territory, defeating Hobart Hurricanes by 66 runs in their fourth match.

Batting first after winning the toss, Nepal posted 180/7 in 20 overs. Arif Sheikh (33), Aasif Sheikh (29), and Kushal Bhurtel (27) provided valuable contributions, while Lokesh Bam’s quickfire 25 off 11 balls* boosted the total.

In reply, Hobart Hurricanes were bundled out for 114 in 16.1 overs. Nandan Yadav produced a match-winning spell, taking 5 wickets for 17 runs in 3 overs, while captain Rohit Paudel, Kushal Bhurtel, Rijan Dhakal, and Sandeep Lamichhane chipped in with one wicket each.

For Hobart, Brad Hope scored 31, Charlie Wakim made 28, and Jake Curtin remained unbeaten on 20.

This was Nepal’s first win of the tournament after losses against NT Strike, Bangladesh A, and Melbourne Stars Academy.

Next, Nepal will face Melbourne Renegades tomorrow, followed by a clash against Pakistan Shaheens on Friday.
