Indu Barma Becomes First Nepali Woman Cricketer to Score 1,000 T20I Runs

Nepal women’s national cricket team captain Indu Barma has become the first Nepali woman cricketer to reach the milestone of 1,000 runs in T20 Internationals.

She achieved this feat on Tuesday, scoring an unbeaten 48 runs against Malaysia in the fourth match of the ongoing five-match T20I series. With this knock, Barma took her total to 1,033 runs from 77 matches and 70 innings.

Right-handed batter Indu now leads the list of highest run-scorers for Nepal in women’s T20Is. Sita Rana Magar ranks second with 965 runs from 63 matches, while Rubina Chhetry is third with 936 runs from 78 matches.

The 28-year-old Barma made her T20I debut for Nepal in January 2019, during the Thailand Women’s T20 Smash tournament, playing her first match against China in Bangkok.
