Nepal Defeat Oman by 38 Runs to Stay Unbeaten in T20 World Cup Qualifier

Nepal remain unbeaten in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifier after defeating Oman by 38 runs on Wednesday, moving one step closer to the championship title.

Chasing a target of 152, Oman managed only 113 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Vinayak Shukla top-scored with 32 off 19 balls, while Mohammad Nadeem added 25.

For Nepal, Gulshan Jha shone with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. Nandan Yadav and Sompal Kami grabbed 2 wickets each, and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed 1.

Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Nepal posted 151/9 in 20 overs, driven by a composed half-century from opener Kushal Bhurtel, who scored 69 runs off 51 balls. Aasif Sheikh contributed 24, while Gulshan Jha (18 with 2 sixes) and Adil Alam (16) added useful runs.

Nepal started strongly with 53 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket but lost wickets at regular intervals thereafter.

For Oman, Nadeem Khan impressed with figures of 4 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. Sufyan Mehmood and Jitenkumar Ramanandi took 2 wickets each.

Both Nepal and Oman have already qualified for the T20 World Cup. With this victory, Nepal climbed to the top of the table with 8 points from 4 matches.

Nepal had earlier defeated UAE on Sunday and Qatar on Monday, while Oman had beaten Qatar and UAE in their previous matches. Nepal will next face Samoa on Friday.
