20 Corporate Houses to Compete in the Godawari Steels Corporate Cricket League

Kathmandu, August 14, 2024 – Twenty corporate houses are set to compete in the inaugural Corporate Cricket League organized by Veterans 40 Pvt. Ltd., marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s corporate sports scene.

During a press conference held on Wednesday, Veterans 40 Pvt. Ltd. announced that the first edition of the Corporate Cricket League will kick off on August 17, 2024 (Bhadra 1, 2081). The tournament will be hosted at the Great Himalayan Cricket Academy’s indoor ground in Lalitpur, bringing together 20 corporate houses in a competitive and exciting cricket event.

The league is being held under the title sponsorship of Godawari Steels. On Wednesday, a formal agreement was signed between Santosh Bhandari, CEO of Veterans 40 Pvt. Ltd., and Yubraj Pokhrel, Marketing Head of Godawari Steels, to solidify this significant partnership.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the league, Santosh Bhandari stated, “This tournament is a game-changer. It provides an extraordinary platform for cricket enthusiasts and former players to rekindle their love for the sport. We are dedicated to delivering an unprecedented event of the highest quality and eagerly anticipate many successful seasons ahead.”

Yubraj Pokhrel, representing the main sponsor, Godawari Steels, also shared his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled about our collaboration with this corporate cricket event and expect it to be a huge success. As the main sponsor, we look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.”

Additionally, the 20 participating teams were divided into four groups through a draw conducted on the same day. The group division is as follows:

  • Group A: Nepal Bank Limited, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, IME Group, Prabhu Bank, SALICO Insurance
  • Group B: Jagdamba Group, NIC Asia Bank, United Ajod Insurance, Lumbini Bikas Bank, Cloud Factory
  • Group C: ICFC Finance, Dogma Group, Sanima GIC Insurance, Quest Pharma, Nepal SBI Bank
  • Group D: KIEC, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, AMBE Group, Employee Provident Fund

The league promises to be a first-of-its-kind event in Nepal, setting a new benchmark for corporate cricket tournaments.
