Two spinners from the Nepali national cricket team, Sandeep Lamichhane and Lalit Rajbanshi, have been included in the draft for Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).

On Wednesday, the Big Bash released the list of players for both the Men’s and Women’s BBL, featuring players from 30 countries. The list includes 432 male and 161 female cricketers, from which players will be selected. Only two cricketers from Nepal have been included in the draft.

The draft will take place on Sunday, September 1, where the eight teams of the league will select players. The league is scheduled to start on December 15.

Sandeep Lamichhane, a leg spinner, first represented Melbourne Stars in the BBL during the 2018/19 season. He continued with the Melbourne Stars in the 2019/20 season and then represented the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons. Apart from his recent stint in the Global T20 League, Sandeep hasn’t played in any other leagues.

Lalit Rajbanshi, a left-arm spinner, has represented Nepal in international matches. So far, he has played 29 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 21 T20 Internationals (T20Is) for Nepal. He has taken 37 wickets in ODIs and 18 wickets in T20Is. He made his T20I debut for Nepal against the Netherlands in 2018.
