Nepal Falls to Sri Lanka Development Squad by 5 Wickets in Third Practice Match

The Nepali cricket team, currently on a tour of Sri Lanka for preparations for the ICC World Cup League-2, lost their third one-day practice match against the Sri Lanka Development Squad by 5 wickets.

In the match held at the Thurstan College Grounds in Colombo, Nepal set a target of 160 runs, which the home team chased down in 26.5 overs, losing 5 wickets.

For the Sri Lankan side, Krishan Sanjula top-scored with 68 runs, hitting 10 boundaries off 60 balls. Similarly, Ashen Bandara contributed 34 runs, while Ravindu Rasantha added 25 runs.

In Nepal’s bowling department, captain Sompal Kami and Gulshan Jha took 2 wickets each, while Lalit Rajbanshi claimed 1 wicket.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent to bat first, Nepal managed to score 159 runs, losing all their wickets in 40 overs.

Nepal’s top scorer was opener Kushal Bhurtel, who made 43 runs, hitting 4 fours and 1 six off 50 balls. Kushal Malla scored 35 runs, Aarif Sheikh contributed 20, and Karan KC added 15 runs.

For the Sri Lankan team, Garuka Sanketh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets while conceding 39 runs in his 7 overs. Thanuka Dabare took 2 wickets, while Dhananjaya Lakshan and Ashen Daniel claimed 1 wicket each.

Nepal’s first two practice matches were canceled due to rain. The Nepali team will remain in Sri Lanka until tomorrow.
