Opening batter Prasiddha Jaisi’s brilliant century and captain Bipin Prasad Sharma’s six-wicket haul helped Nepal secure a massive victory over Indonesia in their third match of the ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cricket tournament.
The match took place at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur, where Nepal defeated Indonesia by a staggering margin of 370 runs. Chasing a mammoth target of 421 runs, Indonesia were bowled out for just 50 runs in 24.3 overs.
Kavin Neeraj top-scored for Indonesia with 15 runs, followed by Divit Nanda with 14. In bowling, Bipin Sharma was sensational, taking 6 wickets for just 12 runs in 7.3 overs. Shubham Khanal and Sugam Budhathoki took a wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal was invited to bat first after losing the toss and scored 420 runs for 5 wickets in 50 overs, setting a target of 421. This is Nepal’s highest-ever team total in any 50-over format across all age groups, and also the highest team total of the ongoing tournament.
Prasiddha Jaisi scored a magnificent 132 off 114 balls, smashing 15 fours and 1 six. Raunak Srivastava supported with 88 runs off 71 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes, while fellow opener Parimarjan Yadav blasted 71 runs off just 28 balls, hitting 4 fours and 8 sixes. Joy Thapa contributed a quick 57 off 41 balls.
Jaisi and Yadav shared a 130-run opening partnership. After the first wicket fell at 151, Jaisi and Raunak added another 148 runs for the third wicket.
For Indonesia, Ketut Dharma Putra took 2 wickets, while Kavin Neeraj, Mahendra Aji, and Rehan Riza grabbed a wicket each.
Nepal, placed in Group A, sits at the top of the points table with three wins in three matches (6 points). Nepal had previously defeated Singapore by 6 wickets and Japan by 9 wickets.
Singapore, having played one more match than Nepal, also has 6 points from 3 wins in 4 games. Japan and Indonesia have 2 points each, while Bhutan remains winless.
Nepal’s next and final group match is against Bhutan. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
