Nepal won by 42 runs against the UAE for the first time in ICC League 2.

Nepal won the match against UAE in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 at Dubai Cricket Stadium (UAE), registering a victory over UAE by 42 runs.

UAE only managed to score 187 runs with 10 wickets lost in 45 overs. Asif Khan was the top scorer for UAE, scoring 82 off 115 balls, and Aryan Lakra scored 50 runs in 78 balls.

In the 35th over, a angry conversation held between Sandeep Lamichhane and Rohan Mustafa.  They seem to be saying something to each other. In the 42nd over, Dipendra Singh Airee took the important wicket of Asif Khan to help Nepal win the match easily.

Sompal Kami and Dipendra Singh Airee took 3 wickets each, while Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Aarif Sheikh took 1 wicket each for Nepal. Nepal conceded 11 extra runs with 4 wides.

Before that, Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first. Nepal managed to score 229 runs in 50 overs and lost 9 wickets. Bhim Sharki was the top scorer for Nepal, scoring 70 off 99 balls, and Aarif Sheikh scored 43 runs in 56 balls.

At one point, Nepal only scored 68 runs and lost 5 wickets. Bhim Sharki and the other remaining batsmen played the responsible inning for Nepal.

UAE Bowler Junaid Siddique took 3 wickets, while Aryan Lakra and Rohan Mustafa took 2 wicket each. The UAE bowlers gave away 7 extras, which included 2 wides.

The Man of the Match award was presented to Bhim Sharki for his outstanding knock of 70 runs off 99 balls.

 

Now Nepal climbs to the 5th position in the point table, ahead of UAE. Nepal’s next game of the tournament will be played against PNG on March 9 at the Tribhuwan International Stadium in Kathmandu.
