The Nepali Blind Women’s Cricket Team, set to participate in the ‘Indo-Nepal’ two-country blind women’s cricket tournament in Mumbai, India, from December 10 to 16, bid farewell in a ceremony.
Following the Indo-Nepal series held in Nepal in April earlier this year, a 5-match T-20 series is scheduled in Mumbai, India.
The team underwent selection for the competition during a closed training session in Pokhara in March last year. Additionally, they trained for a week at the newly built training center in Godavari to prepare for the tournament.
Led by Captain Gita Poudel and Vice-Captain Binita Pun, the Nepali team is under the guidance of Head Coach Rijn Prajoo, Coach Nahendra Niraula, and Team Manager Jyoti KC.
At the farewell event, an inclusive cricket training center was inaugurated. The Chief Guest, Gajendra Marhajan of Godavari Municipality, Milan Silwal, Chairman of Godavari Municipality Ward No. 5, National Cricketer Sharad Vesawkar, representatives of Nepali Rhinos Cricket Club, and representatives of UNDP were present.
In collaboration with national cricketer Sharad Vesawkar, the Nepali Rhinos Cricket Club provided cricket Shoes during the farewell program. Additionally, an Art of Living Intuition class was conducted for the National Blind Women’s Cricket Team. Vesawkar expressed his commitment to cooperate in organizing the Blind Women’s World Cup in the future.
