The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the eagerly awaited schedule for the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to captivate cricket enthusiasts from June 1 to 29. In a historic move, the tournament will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States.
Nepal, emerging as the runner-up in the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier held last November, is gearing up for its second appearance in the prestigious event. The Himalayan nation previously qualified for the T20 World Cup in 2014, making waves in the cricketing world.
In a groundbreaking development, this edition will feature a record 20 participating teams, promising an unparalleled display of international cricketing prowess.
Nepal finds itself placed in Group ‘D,’ alongside formidable competitors such as Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands. The battle kicks off on June 4 in Dallas, USA, where Nepal faces off against the Netherlands. Subsequent clashes include encounters with Sri Lanka on June 11 in Florida, USA, and South Africa on June 14 in Saint Vincent, West Indies. The group stage concludes with a face-off against Bangladesh on June 16 at the same venue.
The tournament’s group stage comprises four groups:
– Group ‘A’: India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and USA
– Group ‘B’: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman
– Group ‘C’: New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea
– Group ‘D’: Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Netherlands
Following the completion of one match per team within their respective groups, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super-8 stage, intensifying the competition.
