Nepal Eliminated from ACC Women’s Asia Cup After Defeat by India

Nepal has been eliminated from the ongoing ACC Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka after losing to India. In the match at Dambulla, India secured a victory by 82 runs over Nepal.

Chasing a target of 179 runs set by India, Nepal managed to score only 96 runs, losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.

For Nepal, opener Sita Rana Magar scored 18 runs off 22 balls, while Bindu Rawal contributed an unbeaten 17 runs off 19 balls. Rubina Chhetri added 15 runs off 16 balls, and captain Indu Barma scored 14 runs off 18 balls.

India’s Deepti Sharma was the standout bowler, taking three wickets. Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav each took two wickets, and Renuka Singh claimed one.

India, who won the toss and opted to bat first, posted a total of 178 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Shefali Verma scored a half-century, hitting 81 runs off 48 balls with 12 fours and 1 six. Dayalan Hemalatha, the other opener, added 47 runs off 42 balls. Together, Verma and Hemalatha shared a century partnership of 122 runs.

Sita Rana Magar broke the opening partnership on the last ball of the 14th over. Following that, Jemima Rodriguez remained not out, scoring 28 runs off 15 balls. Sita Rana Magar took two wickets and Kabita Joshi took one wicket for Nepal.

With this win, India has advanced to the semi-finals, remaining unbeaten at the top of Group A. Nepal, finishing third in the group with one win, has been eliminated from this edition of the tournament.
